weddings, las vegas, meltdowns, and shaving the dog

So...we drove...straight through...19 hours...each way....6 of us ...me my husband my 23 yr old son, my 21 yr old daughter, her boyfriend 25 yrs old, AND the brother of the bride my nephew ( who had no other way of getting to the wedding and you will soon hear why ) 22 yrs old and talks ....nonstop...about nothing...and can't help with the driving cause his liscense is suspended for failure to show....and thinks he is " a babe magnet". I was tired but even worse hormonal upon arrival on saturday afternoon in hot crowded vegas. We found our hotel the boys proceeded to take 2 hours to shower and dress...we hadn't had lunch....we finally went out to find some family and dinner....and ....I melted down.....right there in the middle of the new york new york casino...just stood there and bawled...I really couldn't believe the noise, crowds, mindless gambling, drinking, the most appallingly dressed women, who thought they were sexy ( I guess ) but what really got me were the children, babies, kids, everywhere...their parents drinking and??? Well it wasn't pretty...we ate an awful meal, I made my daughter cry too...then I RAN back to the car with my husband following far enough behide so that people didn't automatically think we were together...and went to bed. the kids split off and up into variouse groups and stayed out all night and enjoyed themselves..I think without hardly any mind altering subtances ( I think )

Sunday was the wedding ( see photo of bride previously posted ) ( I made the dress and it was beautiful ...so was she ) I did better...the kids had purchased a spa thing at the MGM grand for the bride and the aunts and the cousins....so 3 fat middle aged women got to recharge with a massage and sauna....that helped...the wedding was more tasteful than I thought but still only 10 minutes long...and a quite nice meal after then back on the road 19 more hours...nephew didn't talk quite as much....still I was glad to see him go home...goodness...

I got the stomach flu upon return and lost most of the week.....felt better just in time to help cart my very aged in-laws to my youngest sons high school graduation last night...my kids are not " kids " anymore.....

So....I shaved the dog...I feel better now....

Good Lord, Ginger! I hope the rest of your summer is a big snoozer so you can relax!

Don't feel bad Ginger, Vegas makes me sick too. I got heat sickness when we went. The highlight of my one and only trip to Vegas was hanging out of the car puking as we drove down the strip...and I hadn't had ANYTHING to drink. Oh yeah, I threw up in New York, New York too.

Vegas is silly. I'm glad you survived!

What a week! Never mind, the wedding was the thing and that dress was super, the bride looked lovely.

I don't see what the attraction is in Las Vegas. I certainly hope to never go there, and most definitely not for a wedding! Glad you survived and isn't it wonderful to have someone (us!) to tell about it and get it off your chest. Relax and enjoy your summer. You've earned it! (I think your nephew and mine are the same person. Same traits, same age and he was even hitting on my 14 year old daughter, his first cousin. Argh!)

I'm just the opposite because I LOVE Vegas, lol. I'm sorry you had such a suck-y time there though Ginger. What a trip in general though, huh? At least the wedding was nice.

(I'm sorry, but I couldn't help but crack up over your last line: "So....I shaved the dog...I feel better now.... ") I think that summed it all up nicely, lol.
