I played around today with a soldering iron and some sheer fabrics. I layered them and sewed a kind of a grid...and a pattern of stitching in each square....then used the soldering iron to burn out some areas. This is going to be used for a year long visual study of Psalm 62....

VERY cool! I'm looking forward to seeing what your year of visual study brings - it's amazing what happens we artists push past the obvious and comfortable (NOT that I'm saying this is, it's just that the deeper exploration really seems to get great results)
