adlefritterpiddlepatted...I met Sonji and Gerrie!!!

So....I drove down to Eugene on Friday and met Gerrie and Sonji...Gerrie actually lives fairly close to me and I was so glad to meet her in person.....but Sonji came from Wisconsin to attend the opening of her show at the MAUDE KERNS gallery ...I do not know how she was selected to show here but the wierd thing is that Maude Kerns and Sonji have a relationship.....in art anyway....the colors and shapes of Maude's art are reflected in Sonji's.....

there she was....painting on the wall of the gallery as I walked in......I enjoyed watching her paint as she talked to folks who wanted to meet her and needed her wisdom....her show is awesome...it is interesting to see her work on white...as I am used to seeing it on black backgrounds on her blog.....I enjoyed seeing all the pieces in context with one another......(my Mom and I have been talking about cohesiveness lately)..I am still not sure how I describe "cohesive" but Sonji can as evidenced by this show.....

anyway....my camera was with me...batteries fresh and I didn't take any pictures......hum,

we had lunch at a "pub" quite the labrynth.....through the front of an ice-cream shop/hard-ware/second-hand store...

our fav SIL met us at the behemoth for the trip and we caught up with my brother and out neice ...he got stuck in the sand driving around on the beach waiting for us to get there...just can't leave him alone without an adult.....

did I mention how proud we are to have Karen .....she keeps the family under control.....We don't know how she does it....and mostly long-distance too!!! what a wonder she is...

preview of a bit of fluff

the behemoth has these rather ugly upholstered window frames....but they do make great audition/design spaces....this is another in a series cale "whose a pretty?...."

strange ...to me any way

this is the church where my brother and his family have found a spiritual home....I find their signage...odd....but my brother finds it comforting...he has not gotten too far past the old testament...and his God is " a vengeful God".....anyway they are happy there and the church does a good job of outreach and I admire that...Palm sunday we attended services with them and it was not the palm sunday I know....no joy...no hosanas....no flowers...no children singing......I missed that...and...they gave my niece...who celebrated her first communion.......wait....wait...a chocolate cross......a white chocolate CROSS.......as well as WHITE WINE for communion ...I told my Mom that we celebrated "Body and Plasma"......what a day....

the first try!

this is my Dads booth at the local quilt show...he had my original quilts and the prints he made of them...he got lots of lookers....folks were amazed at the way the print appears to "float"...the question he got the most was "did she make the quilt from the picture" .... it was a traditional quilt show and there where some wonderful pieces

personal

Yesterday I invited some family members for dinner....and at the table some personal confessions were made by a member of our family who has lived a long life with his secret...it involves base instincts and less than socially acceptable ...he has hidden this and acted it out in very poor and unsafe ways....I do not object to the inclination....just the way he has chosen to act upon it......so so sad to think that a person could have had a "love" that included the physical but instead has lived "a lie" and suffered the effects...as have his children ....and now his grandchildren......my husband cannot talk about this.....his Dad.....fortunately our son was here and he was the most helpful....first he diffused and then he said "I love you"...with out reserve...I am proud of him...and sorry for my husband.....oooof....I am off to the clay ball tonight to see how much someone will pay for "mood-swings"
