I played around today with a soldering iron and some sheer fabrics. I layered them and sewed a kind of a grid...and a pattern of stitching in each square....then used the soldering iron to burn out some areas. This is going to be used for a year long visual study of Psalm 62....

I met this author recently and enjoyed hearing about the books she writes. I am going to order the first two in the series and will let you know...but I thought the author herself was just a delight so how could you go wrong! her web site is here

Lucas and Scooter

We were at a family gathering a few weeks ago at my brother-in-laws house....this is his dog....scooter....this is scooter's bed.......this is the youngest grandson in the family...Lucas...this is not Lucas' house ...or bed....

remember this??? this is my niece last year in may....I made her wedding dress and she was BEAUTIFUL ...if I do say so myself...well now she looks like .......

the nutcracker quilt is finished...it is 41" X 41" I had a wonderful time creating this piece... and the new job is great...incase anyone is still reading...it has been a long time since the last post...this quilt has really taken a lot of my time..and I have been cleaning up the landscape in preparation for the end of the growing season....

new job etc

finally ...yesterday ...I nailed down the new job...it was difficult to bail on the 2 jobs I just had taken less that 6 months ago but both offices were gracious and the new job starts on the 20th

I had a cortisone injection in my right hip that I am hoping solves some pain issues and am trying to regain some normalcy in both the physical and the mental

since I switched to the beta version of blogger I haven't been able to publish photos as easily ...which is part of the reason I haven't been posting ...but I discovered a new way and I think it is doable until they get picasa to interact with beta

we are moving home our oldest son today...he needs to get a new start...oh boy

NO NO not that...advice is what is need....really I just need reassurance that I will do the "right" thing....as you may know I have undergone a job relocation recently...I took 2 jobs both 2 days a week about 6 months ago...I like them both ok...insert wiggly hand motion here cause they are not GREAT!!! just ok...the job on monday and tuesday is a much more intense position ....and wednesday and thursday is more relaxed...the problem...is that I recieved a phone call from a dentist in whose office I temped quite a bit at the first of the year...I loved working there...now the hygienist who has been there for 15 years has decided to retire and is giving up her position and .........they want ME!!! ...well I would LOVE to work there but have major heart palpitiaions at the thought of telling 2 different bosses that I am leaving them after so short a time....the new place offers many advantages over the current offices not to mention ...I think ...cause he hasn't given a dollar amount yet ...but I think he will...money....so what to do ...my DH and DD and parents and sister all think I should take the offer...but what do you all think??? I suffer from the "nice" syndrome and quitting after 6 months is defintely not nice......comments please!!

my stove???

this was my Dad's Grandma's stove...my family recieved it when she "upgraded" I was born but so young I don't ever remember not having it in our family home....when we moved to our current location the stove was stored for awhile and then went to a cabin for some years ....when we built our house in 1998 I knew that that stove was going to be the heart of our house....it is where I learned to cook...and like all born mothers you know that feeding your folks is as good as loving them....it is kind of a pain cause it is NOT easy to clean...but I love it....

I have updated my blog based in part on the invitation by blogger to switch to the new format...and part on the reading of this blog that outlined some likes and dislikes of blog designs that I found myself agreeing with....how do you like it??? I want you to notice I added a link to my Mother's web site for her art...it is so much easier to add links in the newer blogger thing...

there is time and space.....

I recently got to see the quilt made for me by Phyllis Cullen in the "grab bag" challenge on the quilt art list...she took the materials I sent her and made an amazing quilt called " Time and Space" it is gorgeous...I had no idea what to expect....I was also making a piece out of the same materials I sent and this is my piece...sorry I can't show them together till I get back the one that was made for me...and since I am sure it will travel in the exibit that will probably be awhile...anyway I think I will call this one ..." We have time and space for bugs" ...below is a detail shot
