this was my Dad's Grandma's stove...my family recieved it when she "upgraded" I was born but so young I don't ever remember not having it in our family home....when we moved to our current location the stove was stored for awhile and then went to a cabin for some years ....when we built our house in 1998 I knew that that stove was going to be the heart of our house....it is where I learned to cook...and like all born mothers you know that feeding your folks is as good as loving them....it is kind of a pain cause it is NOT easy to clean...but I love it....
I recently got to see the quilt made for me by Phyllis Cullen in the "grab bag" challenge on the quilt art list...she took the materials I sent her and made an amazing quilt called " Time and Space" it is gorgeous...I had no idea what to expect....I was also making a piece out of the same materials I sent and this is my piece...sorry I can't show them together till I get back the one that was made for me...and since I am sure it will travel in the exibit that will probably be awhile...anyway I think I will call this one ..." We have time and space for bugs" ...below is a detail shot
I read the quilting arts magazine which recently issued a challenge to readers to produce and submit an abstract piece based on the series of articles that Liz Berg wrote....so this is mine
based on this portion of my front door
my Mom designed this window and her Dad ( my Grandfather now dead ) made for me gorgeous Huh???
I actually like it in any orientation...wonder if that is the definition of abstract....
here is the detail shot....I haven't named this piece yet....it is...24"X24".....
here is a piece I started on impluse a couple of weeks ago...It has become "Wisdom" ...it is a lot better in person ...I souldn't get my camera to take a good picture ...anyway it is 17" X 191\2 " and includes lots of mixed media like magazine pages paint and fusing...the title comes from Proverbs 3 vs 13 and vs 18 " You're blessed when you meet Lady Wisdom, when you make friends Madame Insight" " She's the very Tree of Life to those who embrace her. Hold her thight and be blessed." this is a paraphase by Eugene Peterson.....
